Press conference for representatives of the media and journalists

On February 22, 2024, there was held a press conference for representatives of the media and journalists, dedicated to the work carried out, achieved results and plans for the future on digitalization of production, implementation of IT at JSC Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company, at the press conference hall of NMMC.

In order to develop the digital economy and the widespread introduction of modern IT in all sectors and spheres, “Digital Uzbekistan 2030 strategy” is being consistently implemented in Uzbekistan. In particular, JSC Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company is carrying out large-scale work to introduce digital technologies, modern information systems and software products into production processes.

Today, one of the priority areas of transformation of the company is the widespread implementation of digitalization into the production and management processes of the enterprise. With the participation of Boston Consulting Group consultants, the Digital Transformation Program of JSC Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company, consisting of 12 directions, is being implemented.

Over the past three years, specialists of the IT Department have developed more than 20 information systems that perform about 200 production and management tasks. As part of the digital transformation program in 2021-2023, more than 40 activities were carried out to introduce digital technologies into the production and management processes of the enterprise.

In 2023, there was launched an unified situational production control center at the Central Mining Administration. The main task of this center, which is located at Hydrometallurgical plant №2, is to fully control, analyze and manage the processes of geological exploration, ore mining, transportation and processing at hydrometallurgical plants.

As a result of the work carried out in this direction, at one of the largest events in the field of digital technologies in Central Asia – ICTWeek Uzbekistan - 2023, held in Tashkent city last year, JSC Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company with 95.2 points was awarded the first places in the category “Best enterprise for the implementation of digital technologies”.

In 2024, 9 large projects to automate production and management processes will be implemented together with BCG to implement digitalization projects. The Company will allocate 253.6 billion soums for these purposes. Many information systems will be improved (enterprise resource management (ERP), transport management), 4 new information systems will be introduced (personnel management HCM, business analysis system for procurement management BI, project management system, digitalization of ecology and environmental protection (ESG)).

405 employees will improve their knowledge and skills, 40 specialists will be trained through international educational platforms, who work in IT field of the mining industry.

Widespread introduction of IT in NMMC ensures an increase in the quality and efficiency of work, a reduction in the human factor, a reduction in costs, and the prevention of production downtime.
