NMMC Boosts Local Manufacturing Efforts in Uzbekistan!
Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company is making significant strides with its localization program aimed at reducing imports and boosting local manufacturing. Since 2000, the program has focused on producing in-house and domestically made components to meet the company’s needs, promoting cross-industry cooperation.
Key highlights:
- In the past 3 years, NMMC produced localized supplies worth $131.9M and procured $1.17B in industrial goods for its operations.
- For 2024, NMMC has already completed 68% of its $74.6M production plan, a 142.4% increase YoY.
- From Jan-Aug 2024, $362.7M worth of import-substituting products were purchased from local manufacturers—a 122.6% YoY rise.
- The innovative “towing” program, the first of its kind in Uzbekistan, has produced 1,400 types of industrial goods valued at $115.4M by supporting local enterprises.
Looking ahead, NMMC is set to increase localized production by 113% through 185 projects and raise the localization level to 65% by 2030, driving sustainable growth in Uzbekistan.
