Press conference for representatives of the media

On November 27, there was held a press conference for representatives of the media and journalists, dedicated to the organized events, the work performed and the results achieved in connection with the 65th anniversary of the formation of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company, at the press conference hall of NMMC.

Today, Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company is the largest enterprise with high potential not only in the industry of Uzbekistan, but also among the top gold mining companies in the world. The company employs about 50 thousand highly qualified workers, engineers and specialists - representatives of more than 40 nations and nationalities.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the founding of the company. The foundation of the company is closely related to the development of mining and processing of precious metals in Uzbekistan, as well as the construction of Navoi, Uchkuduk, Zarafshan, Nurabad, Zafarabad towns.

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the company, on November 17, there was held a festive celebration at the Palace of Culture “Farhad” in Navoi city. At the celebration, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov read a festive congratulation from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, sent to the employees of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company. In accordance with the Decree of the head of state “On awarding a group of leading production employees in connection with the 65th anniversary of the formation of JSC Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company”, a group of employees of the enterprise were presented with high state awards.

There were organized festive events and concerts with the participation of famous national pop artists dedicated to this date for company’s employees and members of their families in Navoi, Uchkuduk, Zarafshan, Nurabad and Zarkent.

On November 16-17, Navoi State Mining and Technology University hosted the IV-international conference on "Integrated innovative development of Zarafshan region: achievements, challenges and prospects" dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the company. The conference involved scientists from leading universities and representatives of foreign companies from more than 10 countries, such as Russia, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Mexico, Chile, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan.

In honor of the 65th anniversary of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company, a book-album entitled “NMMC: new stage of development” was published, which included photos about the company’s history, achievements, new enterprises launched during the years of independence of the Republic of  Uzbekistan,  especially  in  recent  years,  about the  dedicated  work  of  miners,  the  integration of science, education and production, as well as about the work carried out in the sports and social spheres. Also a book consisting of journalistic articles by managers, specialists, labor veterans and youth of the company about the updates taking place at the enterprise today was published.

If before the country gained independence, two hydrometallurgical plants were built in the company, then during the years of independence there were six plants, four of which were put into operation over the past seven years. These are Hydrometallurgical plant №5 for ore processing with a capacity of 5 million tons per year, Hydrometallurgical plant №7, processing technogenic waste, with a capacity of 16 million tons per year, the second stage of Hydrometallurgical plant №2, processing 12 million tons per year, which in terms of production capacity equivalent to a plant. This year Hydrometallurgical plant №6 was added to them.

The world-famous Muruntau mine, according to the list of Kitco (Canada), has been recognized as one of the world leaders in gold mining several times. Also in 2023, London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) again confirmed for NMMC the status of “Optimal Delivery” - a reliable supplier of gold of the highest quality.

In accordance with the development program of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company approved by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during 2017-2023, NMMC implemented 23 investment projects and created more than 15 thousand new jobs. Thanks to this, in 2023, compared to 2016, the volume of gold production increases by 25%, silver – by 46%.

The Development Strategy of Uzbekistan until 2030 sets big goals for enterprises in the mining and metallurgical industry. In particular, in Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company, it is planned to implement more than 20 large investment projects over the next seven years.

At the press conference, the winners of a creative competition, held in connection with the 65th anniversary of the founding of NMMC, were awarded valuable gifts. Employees of the company and all creative people participated in this competition with their journalistic articles, essays, poems, television and radio programs, photographs that praise the changes in New Uzbekistan, the achievements of the enterprise and the heroes of our time.
