Northern mining administration is one of the largest units of the Joint-Stock Company Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company.
To date, the mining administration is working on the extraction of gold-bearing ore at 28 open pits of two large deposits.
The area of the Kokpatas deposit is about 5 thousand hectares. Over the period 1991-2021, more than 622 million cubic meters of rocks and over 147.8 million tons of gold ore were mined at the mines. The ongoing geological exploration work contributes to the expansion of the raw material base of Hydrometallurgical plant №3.
In recent years, a number of changes have taken place in order to improve production efficiency, improve mining processes and develop infrastructure at mines. Thus, in 2015, at the Kokpatas industrial site, a loading point for machines for storing and mixing chargers for components of emulsion explosives was further expanded and a laboratory was created. As a result, it was possible to produce 5-component emulsion explosives capable of detonating even in water wells. In 2016, in order to extract rock mass, reduce the transportation distance and save fuel resources, a cyclic-flow technology was launched at the Daugiztau mine. In 2017-2021, mining equipment was upgraded at the Kokpatas and Daugiztau deposits as part of the technical and technological re-equipment program.
In 2022, at the Daugyztau mine, the main conveyor was extended by 1.7 kilometers, as a result of which the consumption of fuels and lubricants, tires of heavy dump trucks and other types of inventory items was reduced. This allowed the company to save 7 billion soums in 7 months of this year.
The specialists of the mining administration have developed more than 30 technical solutions for open-pit mining, thanks to which savings of 93 billion soums have been achieved.
Hydrometallurgical plant-3 is the first largest industrial enterprise in the mining and metallurgical industry, built and put into operation in the first years of independence of Uzbekistan. As a result of scientific research conducted by the specialists of the company together with scientists, in 2017, for the first time in the history of the mining and metallurgical industry of Uzbekistan, NMMC’s specialists were awarded the Gold medal of the United Nations World Intellectual Property Organization for the development and implementation of the “Method of extracting gold from refractory sulfide gold-arsenic ores”. In 2019, a new filtration, drying and roasting complex was put into operation, designed to process the tailings of the plant. The specialists of NMMC and Engineering Dobersek GmbH received an international German patent for the equipment used in the new technological process. The new project made it possible to increase the completeness of the use of natural resources and reduce the cost of production, while the amount of gold losses with production waste was halved.
