The Kyzylkum desert was developed thanks to the selfless labor of thousands of workers, engineers, scientists and leaders. There were erected towns with modern infrastructure on its endless expanses. In 1965, the first houses for miners were commissioned in Zarafshan. In 1972, Zarafshan received the status of a town. Today Navoi, Zarafshan and Uchkuduk towns are oases in the middle of the desert.
