New opportunities for dump truck drivers

In order to strengthen the knowledge and skills of dump truck drivers involved in transportation of rock mass at the Vostochniy and Daugiztau open pits of the Plant, there was started using Komatsu dump truck driving simulator at the training center of the Automobile transport department (ATD) of Northern mining administration.

Today there are more than 100 heavy dump trucks, which are used to transport the mined ore and rock mass, in this unit of mining administration. With the direct support of the Plant’s management the ATD’s fleet is expanding from year to year with modern vehicles. This year 6 Catterpillar dump trucks and 26 Komatsu dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 90 tons were brought to the department. 

A few months ago in order to operate and maintain Komatsu equipment there was organized the training center by the official representative of a foreign company in Uzbekistan – FE LLC “IKO Machinery” in Automobile transport department. Recently, the company’s specialists installed Komatsu dump truck driving simulator in this center, manufactured by the Australian firm Immersive Technologies. Drivers along with increasing practical experience also master the capabilities of modern mining technique on this simulator.

The simulator is an exact copy of a real Komatsu dump truck’s cabin. After sitting in cabin driver begins training session by wearing a seat belt. If don’t fasten seat belt, the simulator will not work. During training, the simulator simulates day or night, various climatic conditions under which driver drives a dump truck.
