Method of cleaning of gold-bearing resin from iron
The invention relates to metallurgy of precious metals.
When gold is recovered from the solution by sorption with subsequent elution from resin using thiourea solutions, occluded iron impurities are left in resin. These iron impurities accumulate during repeated use of resin, thus depressing the sorption of gold.
The distinctive feature of the proposed method is washing of resin with sodium cyanide solution of optimal concentration at specified temperature. This allows removing iron completely (> 98%) from resin and reducing cyanide consumption. Gold is desorbed from resin using cyanides in small amounts. After cyanide treatment of resin, the solution is returned to ore cyanation. Selective desorption of iron from saturated and regenerated thiourea resin is also possible.
