Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company is one of the largest consumers of electricity in Uzbekistan. The enterprise has developed specific plans for the transition to green energy and the introduction of renewable energy sources, on which systematic work is being carried out.
In particular, in 2024, through the introduction of renewable energy sources, it is planned to save 319.5 million kW.h. electricity and 2.6 million cubic meters of natural gas. As of May 1 of this year, the company achieved savings of 51.7 million kW.h. electricity.
- “The company is carrying out large-scale work on the implementation of solar photovoltaic stations. To date, solar photovoltaic stations with a total capacity of 1 450 kW. have been put into operation at the company, which generate 2.46 million kW.h. electricity per year. Also, by the end of this year, in addition to the plan, a solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 5 700 kW. will be put into operation”, - noted Golibzhon Kholboev, chief power engineer of JSC NMMC.
Particular attention is paid to the production of not only electricity, but also thermal energy from solar energy. To date, about 5 thousand solar water heating devices have been installed in the units. As a result, in April-October of this year it will be possible to completely cover the hot water needs of the units using renewable energy sources and save 1.7 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
It should be noted that the above measures and further improvements in energy efficiency serve to significantly save electricity consumption at Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company.
