NMMC: FOR PRODUCTION OF PRODUCTS WITH HIGH ADDED VALUE, memorandums were signed with South Korean companies

As a result of large-scale reforms carried out in New Uzbekistan in recent years, the economy of country is developing rapidly. At the initiative of the head of state, large-scale work is being carried out to produce copper products with high added value, to establish effective cooperative relations between entities operating in the field. In this direction, it is important to study the experience of foreign companies with a developed copper industry cluster.

On February 9-15, 2023, a group of specialists of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company visited South Korea and got acquainted with the activities of the country's leading industrial and high-tech manufacturing companies.

During the visit, specialists of NMMC visited South Korean companies PNT INC., KOMA TECH, SMART MACHINE TOOL, HANKOOK Machine Tools, which operate in such areas as deep processing of copper and production of high value-added goods, as well as mechanical engineering and machine tool building. It should be noted that South Korea is a country with a large-scale development of electronics, robotics, automotive, shipbuilding, heavy engineering and other high-tech industries.

In order to study the experience of South Korea in the development of industry and the full establishment of a modern production chain, the specialists of NMMC visited the plant of PNT INC. in Gumi city, which produces technological equipment for the production of copper foil with a thickness of 6-8 microns widely used in the production of high value-added goods. There were held negotiations between the specialists of NMMC and representatives of this company to establish bilateral cooperation. As a result of negotiations between both parties, a memorandum of cooperation was signed on organizing the production of copper foil on the basis of JSC NMMC. Copper foil is a commodity that is in high demand today. This product is widely used in electronics, automotive, machine tool and instrumentation industries. This, in turn, ensures the production of high value-added products for the world market.

Also, in order to get acquainted with the experience of South Korea in the field of mechanical engineering and machine tool building, the specialists of NMMC visited the plants of KOMA TECH, SMART MACHINE Tool, HANKOOK Machine Tools in Gimhae city. During the visit, as a result of negotiations between the specialists of NMMC and representatives of these companies, a memorandum of cooperation was signed on the production of the necessary parts and spare parts for the above companies at Navoi Machine-Building Plant of JSC NMMC, as well as on setting up the production of high-tech machine tools at the plant. Thus, prospects for the production of new generation machine tools will open up in Uzbekistan.

The efforts made to establish mutually beneficial cooperation between Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company and the leading industrial companies of South Korea are aimed at ensuring that in the near future, the first in Central Asia to establish a chain from the extraction of raw materials to the production of goods with high added value. And this will serve the further development of industrial cooperation between large industrial enterprises and business entities.
